Student discounts, beer gardens, pub grub, live music – they’ve got it all. The sunny months wouldn’t be complete without exploring the best pubs both on and off Warwick campus.
As you’ve probably come to realise, the University of Warwick campus is in the city of Coventry and isn’t actually located in the town of Warwick like its name suggests. If you’re staying close to campus, perhaps staying in one of our Coventry student housings, just minutes away from the university. Then you’ll be keen to find out what the best pubs are that are in the vicinity.

1. Fusion Sports Bar
Fusion is an on-campus sports bar located on the first floor of the Rootes Building in the students union. The bar offers an excellent range of bevvies from local gin, wines, draught beers and bottled craft beers. As well as serving up tasty food like burgers and fries and chinese food – yum! If you want to stay up to date with all thing’s sports, then you’re in luck, they have Sky Sports and BT Sport games playing every week.
With an array of offers available such as 2 for 1 cocktails on Fridays, what’s not to love about Fusion?!

2. The Terrace Bar
Another on-campus bar is The Terrace, which has amazing views from the balcony offering a perfect place to watch the sunset with your pals.
Terrace sells tons of different drinks as well as fishbowl cocktails, the best part is they offer a ‘Bus Stop’ drinks deal from Monday-Saturday, 4-9pm. Carlsberg, Magners and spirits with a mixer are only £2. Unfortunately, this deal is only during term time, but Terrace is still the place to be this summer.
All Warwick students have access to 10% off food and drink through their student ID card at any on campus pubs or bars, so you can get them good vibes flowing!

3. The Dirty Duck
Okay, we know we said the best PUBS and not bars, so here is Warwick’s very own pub, The Dirty Duck.
The Dirty Duck will define your university experience at Warwick, its somewhere you just really HAVE to go to no matter if you’re in first, second or third year. The DD is located on the centre of campus, with a variety of tasty scran, an array of cheap drinks and entertainment, a night here is one for the ages!
Their weekly events include Karaoke Wednesdays and weekly bingo events, and the atmosphere is always buzzing.

4. Varsity Bar
Varsity Bar is a friendly and traditional pub that you can go to chill with friends or family, whilst enjoying some nice pub grub with English classics on the menu and tons of drinks to choose from.
Despite being so close to campus, there’s a wide variety of people to find in Varsity offering a great experience every time. The best part is, you can order through the MyPub app, so you don’t have to leave the comfort or your table.
Whether you’re after someday drinks sat outside with friends, a catch up over lunch with your course mates or somewhere to go for pre’s for your weekend night out, Varsity should be on your list!

5. Saxon Mill Warwick
The Saxon Mill is a pub located next to the River Avon so you can say goodbye to uni deadlines with a tasty drink whilst admiring the views of the riverside. Fancy a bite to eat? This gastropub has everything on the menu from light bites to tasty British and Mediterranean-inspired meals.
Despite being a little bit pricier than the pubs on campus, the Saxon Mill has daily changing drinks specials and cocktails for you to sip on allll day long (its open 12 noon-10pm daily).
The Saxon Mill is bound to bring the evening to a close in the best style, with its courtyard and decking area equipped with log fires for them toasty summer nights. Although, it’s a bit out the way from campus so
if your student house is in Warwick this is the best spot to go to!

6. The Phantom Coach
The Phantom Coach is located less than a five-minute taxi ride from Westwood Student Mews, so you can venture out of our brand-new student village and head to the pub for a night out with your housemates!
Roll on the good times, with a range of new Spritz cocktails available here for a great price, let the bubbles go down in the beer garden whilst enjoying the sunshine. Getting hungry? Head inside for some cheap food with a range of meals on the menu to please everyone including vegan and vegetarian options.

7. The Old Coffee Tavern
Located in the heart of Warwick town centre, this pub is the place to go when you’re in your second or third year of uni. Housewarming drinks you say?! Head to The Old Coffee Tavern for local locally sourced real ales and craft beers.
Not only is their drinks selection top notch, but the food here is to die for. Whether you’re after a nice lunch time coffee and a sandwich or an evening of pasta and wine, this pub is a great place to gather with friends or family.
Fancy a quiz night, a night filled with live music or love a good deal? Well, head to The Old Coffee Tavern for exciting events and deals like buy 1 burger get another for £1! As a student you can’t say no to that can you?

8. The Old Post Office
The Old Post Office is an independent pub with an exciting background, it is seriously located in an old post office – how quirky is that!
With a focus on serving great beers in a friendly setting, the pub has been pleasing first time visitors and regulars since 2014. Serving a range of ales from locally brewed bitter to IPAs. If you don’t drink beer then don’t worry, they sell a selection of ciders too.
The pub is dog friendly, so you can enjoy a drink in the sunshine whilst petting some cute doggies or your parents can bring yours when they come to visit. There’s nothing more to ask for really, pints AND dogs?!
With focus being on beer, there isn’t food available here but trust us you’ll get some interesting beers from smaller independent breweries across the UK here! It’s no wonder they won the Heart of Warwickshire Pub of the Year in 2020. The Old Post Office hosts some great evenings of live music events.
