2. Williamson Park
Located just outside of central Lancaster, Williamson Park is the perfect place to escape the city and enjoy the fresh air.
Williamson Park was constructed in the late nineteenth century by British businessman James Williamson 1st. It’s home to the Ashton Memorial, a spectacular Grade 1 listed structure built between 1907 and 1909 in memory of Williamson’s late wife.
When visiting the park you can take in the memorial, venture through the woods, and enjoy coastal views across to Morecambe Bay and Fylde Coast.
If that wasn’t enough, Williamson Park has several attractions including a Butterfly House and charming café with free Wi-Fi (if you’re looking for somewhere new to study).
Williamson Park is just a 20-minute bus ride from central Lancaster or 30-minute walk on a dry day, so accessible if you don’t have a car.

3. The Dukes
If you live in Lancaster, The Dukes is a must visit.
Located in the heart of the city and well loved by the community, The Dukes is a theatre and independent cinema that’s host to a whole load of entertainment.
Operating since 1971 out of a converted church, The Dukes is Lancaster’s oldest cinema and only producing theatre – creating 5 shows a year as well as hosting leading touring theatre productions.
If you fancy a bite to eat or something to drink, take a seat in The Dukes Theatre Bar. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 12pm, the Theatre Bar welcomes anyone who wants to take a seat in the comfy café and enjoy a quality coffee.
If you thought it couldn’t get any better, you were wrong! All food and drink served in the Theatre Bar is locally sourced to support local businesses and reduce The Dukes carbon footprint (so perfect if you’re trying to be a more sustainable student).

4. Lancaster Brewery
Did you know that Lancaster is home to a multi-award-winning brewery?
Established in 2005, the Lancaster Brewery produces some of the best beer in the UK and is available around the world. You can pop into their Brewhouse & Tap to have a drink with friends or go on a brewery tour to see how their award-winning beers are made. The Lancaster Brewery offer 3 brewery tours ranging from £15 to £35 per person, each tour is 45 minutes long and gives you the chance to sample a pint or two!
The Lancaster Brewery is based just outside of central Lancaster in Lancaster Leisure Park. If you live in central Lancaster, you can get to the Lancaster Brewery in 25 minutes by jumping a bus from the Lancaster Bus Station on Cable Street.

5. The Lancaster Comedy Club at the The Borough
The Borough is an award-winning pub, restaurant, and hotel in the centre of Lancaster.
With a delicious food menu, array of fine ale, and local produce, The Borough is the perfect place to meet with friends.
It’s even home to the Lancaster Comedy Club!
Well-loved by the community, the Lancaster Comedy Club has brought comedians to Lancaster for over 15 years. Having previously welcomed terrific acts like Paul Smith, John Bishop, and Romesh Ranganathan, the Lancaster Comedy Club is one to watch. They host early (7:30pm) and late shows (9:00pm) on the last Saturday of every month, there are no intervals or open spots just hilarious, uninterrupted comedy.
As the Lancaster Comedy Club takes place in The Borough you can dine in there beforehand, but must make sure you’re finished your meal before the show begins.
